Sneak Preview: Room 17’s Book on Bats, Owls and Porcupines

November 16, 2011 – Students had a great time sharing their work with other students.  They did a great job teaching the 2nd graders and used some tried and true teaching strategies:  asking students what they already knew about the animals before the lesson, and questioning them after the lesson with questions like  “What did you learn?

 Students are studying all things bats and and owls.  From bat myths to owlets, there is a lot to learn and understand.  Challenge:  What is one of the most interesting things you have learned about bats (or owls) so far?

Scroll down and enjoy student research on bats.  Each student created two non-fictions pages, complete with information paragraphs, headings, photos, illustrations and a word bank.  I’ll continue to add pages as students fi nish.   If you click on a photo, you can see an enlarged version.
