Today third grade students read The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak. It is a great story for discussing how the fonts and the way the letters are arranged on a page matter. We are nearing the end of the City of Ember. Lina, Doon and Poppy are getting ready to get in the boat and follow the river out of Ember. Challenge Questions: Answer one, two or all three of these questions in your comments.
1. What do you think are some possible reasons the City of Ember may have been built?
2. What characteristics do Lina or Doon have that led them to solve the mystery of the torn up letter? Use examples from the book.
3. What will they find if they make they way out of Ember?
Students in Room 17 had a special visitor today! Mr. Bell, deputy superintendent, came to our school and stopped in room 17 to read Buckeyes, Bow Ties, and Sweater Vests by by Roxanne M. Price. Go Bucks!
