The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak

April 24, 2015

Today third grade students read The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak.  It is a great story for discussing how the fonts and the way the letters are arranged on a page matter.  It is also a very funny book and the students loved it.  Here is a link to a youtube video so you can read along with The Book With No Pictures!

City of Ember

We are nearing the end of the City of Ember.  Lina, Doon and Poppy are getting ready to get in the boat  and follow the river out of Ember. Challenge Questions:  Answer one, two or all three of these questions in your comments.

1.  What do you think are some possible reasons the City of Ember may have been built?

2. What characteristics do Lina or Doon have that led them to solve the mystery of the torn up letter?  Use examples from the book.

3.  What will they find if they make they way out of Ember?

Practice here, and by the time we are set to make our own paper snowflakes, you’ll be a pro!.

Please leave a comment.   How do you feel about snow?  Do you love it, hate it, or are you somewhere in between, and why?  We want to know!
